Juan Duyos and his ‘Canary Islands’ collection land in Tenerife

The rosettes of Lanzarote, the openwork of Gran Canaria, the macramé and crochet of Fuerteventura, the native wool yarn of El Hierro, the leather goods of La Gomera, the Canarian earrings of Tenerife and the silk yarn of La Palma, all of this It is represented in Juan Duyos’ autumn-winter collection, which is called ‘Canary Islands. Winter’.

Juan Duyos, originally from Madrid, began in the world of fashion in 1992 collaborating with designers such as Manuel Piña, Cecilia Paniagua and Antonio Pernas. Since then, his work and dedication have forged his own recognizable style based on his use of color, fabric, volumes and silhouettes.

In the case of the collection ‘Canary Islands. Winter’, the designer took inspiration from a visit to our Archipelago in which he personally met the artisans who collaborated in the creation of these pieces.

It should be noted that these designs were presented at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid, the most important catwalk in Spain. However, to showcase it to those who could not enjoy it, the artist will take part in the Arona More Than Fashion event and will exhibit the designs that pay tribute to the Canary Islands on October 25 in Arona.

Copenhagen Fashion Week (CPHFW), which took place between August 5 and 9, has been a source of inspiration for the Arona More Than Fashion organization. With international brands such as Marimekko, fashion schools such as the Swedish School of Textiles and high-class guests such as the Ukranian Fashion Week, this event turned the Danish capital into the city of fashion for a week. Catwalks, fashion-talks and meetings served as a focus of ideas for this event to bring the most original and interesting proposals to Arona.

As it is an international event, Arona More Than Fashion has attended the different shows organized at Copenhagen Fashion Week to get a closer look at the designs that are generating the most echo and to check which brands fit best with the Tenerife public. Thanks to this, conversations have begun to bring a representation of this event to Tenerife.

In recent times, Tenerife has positioned itself as an international gastronomic benchmark and, within the island, Arona is one of the municipalities that leads the way. For this reason, we consider it essential that an event of this magnitude covers the culinary level and the best way to do so is by getting local restaurants to take part.

Arona in general, and the Golden Mile in particular, have numerous establishments that create a varied and quality gastronomic offer. These range from cafes, to cocktail bars, to restaurants that reach Michelin Star quality.

In many cases, visitors to the area do not discover all these secrets that the Golden Mile and the municipality of Arona can offer them, for this reason during the development of this event we will seek to disseminate local gastronomy, present the singularities of our kilometer 0 products and showcase the qualifications and professionalism of the municipality’s chefs.

Arona a unique environment for photography

Arona Shopping Day is a unique and strategic initiative that promises to bring significant benefits to the municipality.
Esta dynamization action will take place on the Avenue of the Americas, known as the Golden Mile. An open commercial area that features six shopping centers (Américas Plaza, Oasis, Parque Santiago III, Parque Santiago V, Safari and Vistasur), more than 300 shops, four cocktail bars, 30 restaurants, bars and terraces, four parking lots with more than 1,500 spaces and a theater.

The uniqueness of Arona Shopping Day lies in its ability to bring together all the shops and businesses in this area in a joint event, fostering cooperation and community spirit. By directly involving merchants in the promotion and execution of the event, not only greater visibility is ensured, but also a active participation that will attract a diverse and large audience.
